We are indebted to Andrew Zydell, of Photographic Art by AZ, for capturing some precious memories for us from this year’s parade as well as for becoming a Sponsor of the Blue Star Banner Program! It was touching and heartwarming to see people express their gratitude to these two gentlemen along the parade route. Hearing comments such as “Mom, he waved at me!” and “He has on a real Soldier’s uniform” were sweet to hear. So many of CL’s residents thanked our active duty service members vocally or with a nod, gesture, or salute. A very moving moment took place as we approached the reviewing area at Main Beach and heard music. Realizing it was the National Anthem, the vehicle stopped, SFC McAnally jumped off the bed of the vehicle to salute our flag which alerted those behind us to what was happening. The timing of the anthem was perfect – just as all the military vehicles rolled past. We stopped traffic, completely silenced the crowd, and our Heroes and the Veterans behind us showed exactly why they are our heroes! God bless them all!!!
